Na Wokabaut, in partnership with Kathe and David Alves of Chehalis, Washington, have initiated a pilot “Goat Project.”
Patterned after the successful “Heifer Project”, five women have been given two goats each which will be bred by a male goat owned by Highlands Arabicas.
The women will tether their goats along the many kilometers of roads on the plantation. As the goats eat the high growing grass, the plantation will cut down on manpower having to slash the grass. At the end of one year, the women will return one goat to the Plantation and can keep the other goat and any babies born.
